Liverpool Battling PL Rivals To Sign £20k-A-Week Ace

Liverpool are battling Tottenham to complete the signing of VfL Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven this summer, according to a fresh transfer rumour.

Are Liverpool signing a centre-back?

The Reds' squad needs some significant transfer surgery before the start of next season, with midfield the particularly pressing area of the pitch – although they have of course already added Alexis Mac Allister there.

It could also be that a new centre-back is required to provide stiff competition for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, with both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez arguably not at the level required anymore.

One player who has been linked with a move to Anfield is Van de Ven, who has impressed in a Wolfsburg shirt, starting 33 Bundesliga matches last season. The £20,000-a-week defender could well move on this summer, finding it hard to turn down strong interest from the Premier League, with Spurs also in the hunt to sign him.

Could Van de Ven be off to Anfield this summer?

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are "prepared to battle" the north Londoners for Van de Ven's signature, having identified him as a "key target" in the summer transfer window.

The Reds have reportedly "begun laying the groundwork" for a defensive signing behind the scenes, with Jurgen Klopp "eager to bolster his backline". The Wolfsburg man appears to be at the front of the queue with Reds recruitment chiefs marking him out as the perfect fit.

Van de Ven could be precisely what Liverpool are after this summer, coming in as someone who can thrive at both centre-back and left-back, also meaning he can dovetail with Andy Robertson and be an upgrade on Kostas Tsimikas.

With Klopp tweaking his system late last season and moving Trent Alexander-Arnold into a roaming midfield role from right-back, Van de Ven's ability to play across those two positions could be perfect.

It would mean he could play at left-back and shuffle across to a more central position when Alexander-Arnold vacates space in defence, while his left foot would bring a balance that is currently lacking in Liverpool's squad. At 22, he would also very much be a long-term signing who could potentially be an eventual replacement for Van Dijk, although the hope is that his Dutch compatriot remains at a high level for a number of years still.

It is a move that ticks so many boxes – Niko Kovac has said the young defender has "great potential" as a player – and the fact that the Reds can offer Van de Ven European football next season surely gives them the edge over Spurs.

Man United Transfer News; Terms Agreed With Andre Onana

Manchester United reportedly have a contract agreement in place with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, while an official first bid has also been made.

Are Man United signing Andre Onana?

The Red Devils and Erik ten Hag have been heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old in recent weeks. Reports previously suggested that Man United were leading the race for his services and stories in recent days claimed a bid was expected to be submitted soon.

Inter Milan want €50m plus bonuses for the shot-stopper, a figure Old Trafford officials are rumoured to be willing to pay, and a further update has now emerged.

The Faithful MUFC relayed an update from La Gazzetta Dello Sport regarding Man United and Onana on Monday. They claimed that an Old Trafford salary has been agreed between United and Onana, with Ten Hag keen on bringing in the goalkeeper to replace David de Gea, who is now out of contract in Manchester.

Ten Hag has reportedly assured Onana that Man United will do everything they can to secure a deal with his club after agreeing terms with the player himself.

In a fresh update on all this by Fabrizio Romano, it has now been revealed that a first bid has now gone in for the goalkeeper but has been rejected.

The journalist explained: "Negotiations between Man United and Inter continue for Andre Onana — after £34m bid plus £5m in add-ons rejected. Deal absolutely on. "

What has been said about Andre Onana?

Onana is a player who Ten Hag knows extremely well following their time at Ajax. Hailed as a "superstar" by members of the media, the Cameroon international has made more appearances under Ten Hag than any other manager during his career (145). The United boss labelled Onana as a “masterful goalkeeper” last year before the pair went on to leave the Dutch giants, saying:

“Obviously he’s not yet back at his level from before the suspension.

“But that can’t be expected from him. He has to work hard to get there again and I’m convinced that he’ll succeed. We’ve all seen that he is a masterful goalkeeper.”

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is also a big fan, praising Onana’s ability on the ball after the Champions League final last month.

“Identifying the space and emptying the midfield is a special quality. Normally, teams have great keepers, but he [Onana] is exceptional with his feet.

“When you have a goalkeeper like Onana who can read perfectly where everyone is to pass to, with Calhanoglu and Barella, then the strikers hold it up and move the ball around. It is very, very difficult. It would be a tiny bit easier without this goalkeeper, but still very tough.”

Therefore, with De Gea now out of contract at Old Trafford, Onana could be a solid signing ahead of the new season. He enjoyed a solid first season at the San Siro, keeping 19 clean sheets in 41 games in all competitions.

As per FBref, Onana outperforms De Gea in a number of areas, including save percentage, goals against, touches and crosses stopped, showing how he could be a shrewd addition.

By the looks of things, all that needs to be agreed on now is a transfer fee, and who knows, Onana could be the next marquee summer signing after midfielder Mason Mount, with the England midfielder undergoing a medical at Carrington on Monday.

Hibs Eyeing A Move For Man City Starlet

Hibernian boss Lee Johnson has acted sharply during the transfer window, making six signings as he looks to improve on the fifth-placed finish they achieved in the Premiership last term and with Europa Conference League qualifiers fast approaching, another one or two new arrivals wouldn’t do any harm at all.

The Easter Road side have been linked with a potential loan move for Manchester City starlet Lewis Fiorini ahead of next season, although they face competition from clubs in the Championship for his signature, yet Johnson will be hoping that European football could perhaps be an ideal incentive for the midfielder.

Hibs scored 57 goals in the league last term, which was the fourth-best total in the division, and these were spread out amongst the attack and midfield, with Josh Campbell netting nine from the heart of the Hibs midfield, yet adding Fiorini into the side could give them another extra attacking edge going forward.

Johnson could even form a dream midfield duo of Fiorini and new arrival Dylan Levitt – who is a product of Manchester United's academy – which he will be hoping can propel the club into the group stages of the Europa Conference League while also impressing on the domestic front too.

How good is Lewis Fiorini?

The 5 foot 10 starlet has yet to make an appearance for the City first team, however he has shone for their youth sides, scoring 12 goals and grabbing five assists in that period too. It has been his loan spells away from Manchester that have given him the platform to showcase his talents.

Registering 25 goal contributions – 13 goals and 12 assists – in temporary spells with Blackpool, Lincoln City and NAC Breda throughout the previous three seasons has not only given him an opportunity to play senior football, but an outlet to get his creative juices flowing.

He could thrive alongside Levitt, who notched eight goal contributions for Dundee United last term alongside creating four big chances and making 1.6 tackles per game, suggesting that not only does he provide an attacking threat from the centre of the midfield, but he also likes to get stuck in and win the ball back often.

Despite United's relegation, Levitt proved to be one of the standout members of the squad, ranking third for overall Sofascore rating, second for big chances created and fifth for tackles per game, and these sorts of attributes could allow him to shine at Hibs.

Lee Johnson

These traits could give Fiorini – who has been lauded for his "quality" by former Lincoln boss, Michael Appleton – more freedom to push forward on a regular basis, and it would surely prove to be a popular pairing at the centre of the Hibs midfield as they aim to finish in third place, behind Rangers and Celtic next term.

The 21-year-old is also a fixture at U21 level for Scotland, scoring twice for his country and under Johnson, Fiorini could land regular game time next season which could help bolster his chances at not only securing a first Scotland cap, but also giving him a chance at bursting into the City first team.

Spurs could move for "new Shinji Kagawa"

Tottenham Hotspur could enter back into the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Daichi Kamada, according to Graeme Bailey.

Who is Daichi Kamada?

Across five years with the club, the Japanese attacking midfielder made 179 appearances, scoring 40 and assisting 33 in all competitions.

The biggest moment of the player's tenure at the club is undoubtedly winning the side's first-ever European trophy in 2022 when they defeated Scottish side Rangers on penalties to win the Europa League.

daichi-kamada-liverpool-transfer-opinion-premier-league

His first introduction to English football was a memorable one, with his brace for Frankfurt against Arsenal in the Europa League in 2019 being the result that saw then-Gunners gaffer Unai Emery sacked.

His manager in Germany, Oliver Glasner, was full of praise when asked about Kamada:

"I've only rarely encountered such an intelligent player out on the pitch. Daichi's sense of anticipation for where dangerous spaces will open up is excellent. I trust him to find the spaces opposing teams give us."

Former manager Adi Hutter shared Glasner's sentiments, stating: "I have to admit he’s really surprised me – in a good way! He’s come on leaps and bounds, not just as a player but his character has really come to the fore, too."

Following the announcement that he wouldn't be renewing his deal with Eintracht Frankfurt, a host of clubs were reportedly interested, however, AC Milan were the side that seemingly had won the race for the highly coveted Japanese midfielder.

In recent days though, reports have surfaced suggesting that following the overhaul in the Milan hierarchy that saw names such as Paolo Maldini lose their jobs, the deal that would've seen Kamada head to the San Siro has since collapsed, which opens the door for clubs previously interested to try again.

One such club who may put their hat back into the ring is Tottenham. The club have held an interest in the player for a number of years, dating back to 2021, and now he is available for free they could make their move.

Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, journalist Bailey stated that Spurs have long held an interest in Kamada, whilst also mentioning that the eye for Japanese talent that new manager Ange Postecoglou has could also be a factor in pushing forward a move.

"I love this player, Daichi Kamada on a free transfer is an interesting one. Milan did the deal, but they delayed it for weeks and weeks and they haven’t approved it. Dortmund like him, Inter and Napoli are liking him. Tottenham and Newcastle liked him before.

"Ange Postecoglou knows all about the Japanese players and there’s none better than this guy, on a free it wouldn’t surprise me to see Tottenham getting back involved in this. He could be an outstanding pickup for any Premier League team on a free transfer, he really could.”

Would Kamada fit in at Tottenham?

Despite the recent signings of James Maddison and Manor Solomon, Kamada would still be a fantastic fit at Spurs.

Former Leicester midfielder James Maddison.

The 26-year-old is incredibly versatile, having played in all three frontline positions as well as both attacking midfield and central midfield throughout his career, which would give the north London side an added boost to two areas of the pitch.

Kamada is also an incredible attacking threat, sitting in the top 1% of all midfielders across Europes top five leagues for non-penalty XG, whilst also sitting in the top 10% for non penalty xG + xAG.

According to FBref, some of his best comparisons include Nicolo Barella, Federico Valverde and Ilkay Gundogan, putting the Japanese player into some esteemed company.

As Bailey stated, Postecoglou has experience and pedigree in working with and getting the best out of Japanese talent, with the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate recent success stories, and the opportunity to work with a player who has been called the "next Shinji Kagawa", could be a massive opportunity for both parties.

Aston Villa: Emery Could Sign £20m "Machine" This Summer

Aston Villa are reportedly remaining on the tail of Tyler Adams, as Unai Emery seeks midfield reinforcements ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The United States international has been of interest to Villa since The Athletic’s Phil Hay mentioned the Midlands side as one of the clubs ‘having a look’ at the Leeds United midfielder.

Could Aston Villa sign Tyler Adams?

While the links to the Leeds ace have simmered down amidst other signings arriving at Villa Park, it’s believed that the Villans could reignite their passion to sign the 24-year-old.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Ben Jacobs relayed his beliefs that Villa will “escalate their pursuit” of the former RB Leipzig man, following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

The midfielder signed at Elland Road just last summer for a fee of £20m, a price that could be met by Monchi considering the Whites’ demotion.

What kind of player is Tyler Adams?

Once lauded as a “machine” by journalist Wes Rucker, the USA international stood out as a trusted performer in what was a dismal season for Leeds.

Deployed as a defensive midfielder, the 24-year-old won 57% of his total duels in his debut term in the Premier League, averaging an impressive 6.0 duels won per game.

Most impressively, the American averaged a monstrous 3.72 tackles per 90 over the past year, ranking him in the top 1% of midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues in this area, via FBref.

Despite his best efforts in the middle of the park, Adams was ultimately unable to conquer the other areas that his side lacked in last season, in a year that ended in relegation to the Championship.

tyler-adams-leeds-united-arsenal-transfer-gossip-edu-arteta-romeo-lavia

While it was a deeply disappointing campaign for those involved, Leeds’ misfortune could be Villa’s treasure, as Emery appears to be an admirer of the midfielder's ability.

The Spaniard has been praised for his focus on improving his options in central midfield, as highlighted by Arsenal legend Ian Wright during BBC Match of the Day.

The former England marksman claimed that the former Arsenal boss has taken Douglas Luiz to “another level”, with the Brazilian ending the campaign as Villa’s top performer, as per Sofascore ratings.

Now, the 51-year-old could give the 25-year-old further freedom to express his growth at Villa Park, by adding Adams into the mix.

With six goals and six assists in the Premier League last term, Luiz flexed his ability in the final third, something he could further explore by having an equally combative presence in midfield.

Adams highlighted his defensive strengths at Elland Road, tackling an average of 2.09 dribblers and making 1.46 interceptions per 90 in the league, via FBref.

Giving the Brazilian the licence to roam could benefit Villa, giving him a role similar to that of Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes, who Luiz has been compared statistically to.

At present, the Rio de Janeiro-born machine is Emery’s most defensive option in the engine room, suggesting that by introducing the Leeds dynamo, the Spaniard could unleash Luiz in a more box-to-box role.

The signing of Adams would benefit the dynamic in midfield at Villa Park, as well as bolster the strength in depth on show ahead of the highly anticipated 2023/24 campaign, in which the Villans return to Europe.

Leeds Could Repeat Viduka Masterclass By Signing £5m ‘Monster’

Leeds United are a perfect microcosm of the term 'Sleeping Giant', as one of England's most famous and historic clubs, that finds itself now wallowing in the Championship.

However, a summer of spending could be set to stir the drowsy heavyweight, with one potential switch, that of Glen Kamara, drawing comparisons to success of their brighter past.

How much is Glen Kamara worth?

Although the latest regarding the Whites' pursuit of Glen Kamara came earlier this month, Ethan Ampadu's arrival could now pave the way for further additions. The midfielder only moved to Ibrox in 2019 for a now-famous £50k fee

Considering the Finland international will be available now for just £5m, this is certainly a deal worth making.

Especially considering the success enjoyed by this club when purchasing directly from the Scottish Premiership, with one standout acquisition sure to have fans reminiscing of better days.

The prospect of emulating the success that Mark Viduka enjoyed is palpable, and although this time they would be delving into their Old Firm rival, it would still represent the replication of an old masterclass that worked a treat for David O'Leary.

Why did Mark Viduka leave Celtic?

Having joined for a mouth-watering £6m fee in 2000, which would actually be higher than the proposed price tag of Kamara, the hulking front-man was welcomed with a big reputation from Celtic.

He had endured a tough start to life in Scotland, and whilst the huge figure sent to the Hoops likely played a big role in his sale, the reluctance of the finisher to return in 2004 speaks volumes for the relationship the player shared with the club.

The Australia international was fresh off the back of his 25-goal haul in the SPFL the season prior to moving, and it was expected that his towering physique made him perfect for the physicality of English football.

This gamble was swiftly rewarded, as in his first year at Elland Road the 47-year-old scored 17 goals in the Premier League and recorded eight goal contributions as they powered into the Champions League semi-finals.

He spearheaded one of the most successful campaigns in the club's recent memory, and for that, his name will remain a legend around these parts.

mark-viduka

Especially considering he remained at the club up until their relegation, with his goals even prolonging the inevitable drop.

Whilst that kind of Champions League-chasing feat is unlikely to be achieved by this proposed summer signing, Kamara could still prove to be incredibly influential in at least returning them to the top flight.

After all, the Finnish midfielder boasts all the necessary physicality to compete in the second tier, with an athleticism and technical proficiency that could see him become one of the division's top performers.

His 2021/22 season with Rangers marked one of his finest, as his 7.01 average rating in the league was upheld by a slew of impressive statistics. Six goal contributions fed into his 91% pass accuracy, and his 1.3 key passes per game were partnered with one tackle per game too, via Sofascore.

He was imperious, and Steven Gerrard had predicted such an outstanding season back in 2019: "He’s a terrific footballer in possession, always playing with his head up and looking to connect defence and attack.

"But what pleased me most is what I spoke about when we signed him in terms of how he’ll be out of possession. Will he hunt the ball back, be aggressive, work hard for the team and be a monster in the middle of the park?

"He showed signs of that against Kilmarnock and potentially he can become a top midfielder."

Perhaps a switch to Elland Road could see him realise this potential further as he enters his prime years, mimicking the path Viduka made when he left an Old Firm club for Leeds.

Newcastle Keen On Signing 24 y/o "Monster"

Newcastle United have reportedly set their sights on signing Galatasaray attacker Nicolo Zaniolo this summer.

What’s the latest Newcastle transfer news?

The Magpies, and by extension owners PIF, have already splashed the cash on two marquee signings to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Sandro Tonali was the first big-name player through the door, joining from AC Milan in a deal worth £55m, and it was recently confirmed that Harvey Barnes has signed from Leicester City at a cost of around £38m.

However, it doesn’t look as if those at St James’ Park plan on stopping there, with Champions League football on offer for the upcoming season. It appears as if Howe and Newcastle want to bring in a new full-back as they have had a £30m approach turned down by Southampton for Tino Livramento.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is another who has been linked with a move north, whereas Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is another player of interest.

Further additions at the back and in midfielder could be on the cards, and by the looks of things, another signing in the final third may also be on the agenda, with speculation emerging over Zaniolo.

According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle have set their sights on a move for Zaniolo. They claimed that polls and information have been gathering when it comes to the Galatasaray attacker, however, the Turkish side are reluctant to sell this summer.

The report adds that Zaniolo is attracting interest from a number of clubs in Italy, but say that Newcastle could complicate a possible return to Serie A.

Who is Nicolo Zaniolo?

Zaniolo is 24 years of age and is primarily an attacking midfielder who can also turn out on the right-hand side or as a second striker. The Italy international, who was labelled a wonderkid alongside Tonali back in 2019, spent time in Fiorentina and Inter Milan’s youth systems before moving to Roma in 2018.

He went on to make 128 senior appearances for Roma, scoring 24 times and providing 18 assists and only made the move to Galatasaray back in February.

Since then, Zaniolo has contributed to six goals in 12 appearances for his current employers, but it looks as if he is attracting interest once again.

Described as a “monster” by journalist Nick Mercadante, Zaniolo has also been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, with Milliyet's Galatasaray correspondent Nevzat Dindar saying:

"Zaniolo is also evolving into a world star. English clubs for Zaniolo.

"It goes up to 30-35 million euros. At this point, Galatasaray does not take Juventus' offers seriously. Tottenham is the closest club to finish Zaniolo."

However, it looks as if Newcastle could soon join the race for the left-footed attacker, who would offer plenty of versatility to Howe’s squad.

During his career, Zaniolo has made 101 appearances as an attacking midfielder, 56 as a right-winger and 28 as a second striker, so he could prove to be a smart signing in what looks set to be a busy season for the Magpies, making this one to watch.

Chelsea Have "Agreed" Internal Deal For £5k-p/w "Giant"

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has “agreed” a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge but there are still some final details to complete, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

When did Levi Colwill join Chelsea?

Colwill is an academy product in SW6 having progressed his way up through the various youth ranks, but after never making a senior appearance, he’s had two season-long development loans throughout his career, the first being at Huddersfield Town and the most recent which was last term at Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Blues centre-back still has another two years remaining on his contract in the capital, and having majorly impressed during his spell at The Amex, Roberto De Zerbi’s side had been looking to take him back on a permanent basis, alongside Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Speaking after the Blues’ 4-3 Summer Series victory over the Seagulls, Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the 20-year-old’s future amid outside attention, to which he replied:

“He's our player and he's going to continue with us. I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it's only the first game with us after the season in Brighton. But I think he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England."

Is Levi Colwill signing a new contract?

Taking to Twitter, Ornstein revealed that Chelsea and Colwill have reached an agreement over fresh terms which will keep him at the club for the foreseeable future once signed. He wrote:

“Chelsea have agreed a new six-year contract with Levi Colwill. Deal has yet to be signed but is now in place + commits 20yo left-sided centre-back to Stamford Bridge until at least 2029. Seen as having [a] massive role for club & country.”

Brighton and Hove Albion's loan defender Levi Colwill.

Chelsea clearly wanted to move quickly to secure the services of Colwill with Brighton and Liverpool both hot on his tail, and with an announcement confirming his future now surely just a matter of time away, Pochettino will know how much of a massive coup it is that his starlet is staying.

The England youth international, who currently pockets £5k-per-week and will get a massive boost on that now, averaged 2.6 aerial wins and 2.2 clearances per top-flight game last season at Brighton, via WhoScored, so could be a real rock at the heart of the boss’ backline should he be given a chance to play on a regular basis moving forward.

The Blues’ 6 foot 1 “giant”, as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig, is also capable of creating chances for his teammates having recorded three assists across all competitions during his time on the south coast, so is a real impact maker at both ends of the pitch.

Finally, Colwill can operate out wide at left-back and slightly higher up on the left side of the midfield alongside his usual role at centre-back so he would provide the manager with plenty of versatility should any unexpected injuries or system changes occur, and following his top performances on the road during the previous campaign, he more than deserves a chance to prove himself in the senior fold during the new campaign.

Arsenal: Gunners Eyeing Late Move For Brazilian Star

Arsenal are one of the sides keen on signing Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz before summer deadline day, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Who else will Arsenal sign?

The Gunners and manager Mikel Arteta are closing in on yet another signing with Arsenal sealing a deal for Brentford keeper David Raya, who has been given the "here we go" by renowned transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal look set to bolster their goalkeeping department with Raya's signing as sporting director Edu Gaspar provides stiff competition for current number one Aaron Ramsdale.

It's been a summer window to remember for Arsenal, who have spent well over £200 million, having also put pen to paper on deals for winger Kai Havertz, defender Jurrien Timber and club-record signing Declan Rice.

Buoyed by their victory over treble-winners Man City in the Community Shield as well, it could be a season to really look forward too for supporters.

More outfield signings are certainly not out of the question, either, as Arsenal are linked with moves for the likes of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati and Dinamo Zagreb's Josip Sutalo.

Luiz, who starred for Villa regularly last term, is another player who could make the move to north London this summer.

That is according to Football Insider and O'Rourke, who say Arsenal have held a long-standing interest in the former Man City star, namely since the summer of 2022.

Villa are actively pursuing USA international and Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams, and that could apparently open the door for Luiz to depart before deadline day.

Arsenal, it is believed, are keen on signing the 25-year-old alongside arch rivals Spurs. There is little detail given beyond that line, but it appears a move for Luiz is still firmly on the cards.

How good is Douglas Luiz?

douglas-luiz-transfer-gossip-aston-villa-arsenal-edu-arteta-granit-xhaka

The South American midfield ace racked up six goals and six assists in 37 league appearances last season for Villa, all while ranking among their best-performers by average match rating according to WhoScored.

Luiz also featured among Villa's best for tackles made and successful interceptions per 90, highlighting how he could be a very good job under Arteta if signed.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright, speaking on his podcast last year (via football.london), has praised Luiz and believeds he is actually an "underrated" top flight player.

“Someone like Douglas Luiz," said Wright.

"He is ready to be one of the best midfield players in the Premier League. He is so underrated. They [Villa] blasted us (on Sunday). We had no chance. It was men against boys."

Meanwhile, Luiz has also attracted praise from City boss Pep Guardiola, who has called the midfielder "strong".

"He’s a guy who plays all of the minute," said Guardiola after Villa played City in 2021.

"He’s an important player for Aston Villa. A guy who’s clever with the ball, so physically strong. He’s a lovely, lovely guy."

Arsenal's interest in Luiz is clearly not unjustified and it will be interesting to see whether they can pull off a move for the star so late this window.

Indeed, with just weeks till the deadline, it is set to be a very interesting time.

Aston Villa: Midlands Club Eyeing Move For "Very Gifted" £350k-P/W Star

Aston Villa are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options even further this summer, after already signing Moussa Diaby earlier in the window.

Unai Emery has so far welcomed three reinforcements, but could yet welcome one more, as the Midlands club look to potentially target negotiations with Manchester United.

What's the latest on Jadon Sancho to Aston Villa?

With that said, The Villans are among the clubs considering a move for Jadon Sancho this summer, according to Caught Offside, potentially ending the England international's nightmare spell at Manchester United.

It may take a hefty fee for United to allow the winger to leave, however, given that they paid a reported £73m back in 2021. But, with Erik ten Hag reportedly open to his exit, the right offer could see Sancho on the move this summer.

It remains to be seen just how much the Red Devils will demand for the sale of Sancho, though Transfermark currently value the former Borussia Dortmund man at €45m (£39m).

Of course, Sancho's wages may prove to be an issue, too, as his current wage reportedly sits at £350k a week, which would instantly make him Aston Villa's highest earner, going above Boubacar Kamara, who earns a reported £175k per-week.

As the end of the transfer window edges closer and closer, Sancho is certainly a player to keep an eye on.

Should Aston Villa sign Jadon Sancho?

Man United's Jadon Sancho

If Villa can get Sancho for the right price, then it would represent solid business. But they must avoid overpaying for a player who, ultimately, has struggled since making the move to the Premier League.

At his best, he is a player capable of 16 goals and 20 assists in a season. At his worst, though, he is a player who fails to make any impact at all, culminating in just ten goal involvements in all competitions. Whether Villa want to take the risk of pursuing the current version of Sancho, remains to be seen.

Read the latest Aston Villa transfer news HERE…

It is at his best that Sancho attracted so much praise, with England teammate, Eric Dier saying after the winger's international debut, via Sky Sports: "I think he was fantastic when he came on.

"He was direct and technically he's very gifted. Hopefully he can be a big part of England in the future if he keeps working hard."

Jamie Carragher echoed that praise, also saying: "There wasn't too much attacking excitement but it did seem to liven up a bit when Jadon came on. He provided that bit of trickery out wide, that freshness."

After news emerged that Emiliano Buendia is set to be sidelined with an ACL injury, too, Emery may yet target an attacking reinforcement before the window slams shut.

Of course, if Sancho did make the move to Villa Park this summer, he wouldn't be without competition for places after former Bayer Leverkusen winger Diaby made the move earlier in the window.

A fresh start could be exactly what the 23-year-old needs, but it remains to be seen whether or not that will come at Aston Villa this summer.
